JAZZMI returns to Palazzo Pirelli, or the Pirellone, thanks to the support of the Council of the Lombardy Region. The concerts are still being confirmed and bookings will be active from mid-October.
Mamud Band is a reality that over the twenty years since its formation has managed to stand out in the Italian and international scene for the energy of its live performances, the creativity of the original compositions, the prestige of the many musicians involved (more than forty so far!) and artistic collaborations including the legendary African-American trumpeter Lester Bowie on the 1998 CD “Amore Pirata” and Tony Allen the historic Nigerian drummer of Fela Kuti on a tour in 2014.
Today this ensemble, strongly characterized by the grandeur of the rhythmic section, is the result of a deep research, in the immense heritage of African, Brazilian, Cuban, Jamaican and African American music, with an eye to electronic funk late ’70s.
It’s a pulsating, swirling, psychedelic sound, which strongly appeals to dance, without giving up to an original musical writing.
Impossible to remain still!
