JAZZMI’s tour to discover the city’s green spaces and their stories starts from Parco Nord. For the occasion, Karu (which means ‘chaos’ in Swahili) keep us company by presenting their project about a mythological character who is able to heal people through music. The Karu link the ancestral rhythm of tribal culture to the unpredictability of jazz, taking A. Coltrane and C. Mingus as their starting points.
“Karu”, a Swahili word meaning “chaos”, is a project that links the ancestral rhythm of tribal culture to the unpredictability of jazz: in fact, trip-hop elements, such as samples and drum machines, intervene on the classicity of double bass and saxophone, making the performances mystical and avant-garde.
Karu transports the listener on a journey out of reality, rediscovering the ancestral impulses that connect us more deeply with sound, in a sophisticated and evocative experience marked by darker notes and sudden interludes: the tale of a mysterious myth that has yet to be deciphered.
