JAZZMI and I-Jazz are back together again to highlight and bring out the new Italian jazz talents, eclectic personalities and extraordinary musicians who show us the new trends in contemporary jazz at ARCA, the new cultural centre in the Romolo district that hosts JAZZMI 2022 as the first major event in its programme.

Ferdinando Romano, double bass player and composer, was ranked first in Musica Jazz’s Top Jazz 2020 as ‘Best New Italian Talent’ and his album ‘Totem’ was ranked eighth in the ‘Best Italian Record’ category of the same year.

The album’s line-up features some of the most interesting musicians and improvisers of the new generation and the participation of the great trumpeter Ralph Alessi, a leading musician on the prestigious ECM label. The album received wide international acclaim, reviewed worldwide by leading magazines and online magazines such as Musica Jazz, All About Jazz (USA), Jazz Views (UK) and many others.

Totem’s tour, in addition to numerous Italian festivals, took in several European countries such as France, Germany, UK, Hungary.
