JAZZMI and I-Jazz are back together again to highlight and bring out the new Italian jazz talents, eclectic personalities and extraordinary musicians who show us the new trends in contemporary jazz at ARCA, the new cultural centre in the Romolo district that hosts JAZZMI 2022 as the first major event in its programme.

Archipélagos is a contemporary jazz project born in Brussels in March 2019, winner of the I-Jazz Nuova Generazione Jazz 2021 project.

In 2022, Archipélagos won second place in the ‘Italian band of the year’ category of the prestigious Top Jazz, organised by MusicaJazz magazine.

The band’s debut album entitled “Il Labirinto dei Topi”(2021), composed by drummer and bandleader Francesca Remigi, draws inspiration from the writings of sociologists and historians including Noam Chomsky and Zygmunt Bauman, Roberto Saviano and Samuel Huntington, with the aim of reflecting on and revealing the relationships, workings and internal dynamics of a decaying contemporary society, denouncing its existential uncertainties and anxieties. Some of the themes tackled are the liquidity of social relations, the crisis of the capitalist economy linked to the idea of the free market, the evolution of criminal organisations, the unstoppable development of the arms market, the sharpening of an unbridled and omnipotent individualism

Gianluca Zanello – Alto Sax
Federico Calcagno – Clarinets, electronics
Filippo Rinaldo – Piano, keyboards, electronics
