A group of Milanese musicians who found in the Mediterranean exactly what they were looking for: a sea that does not divide, but translates. Fan Fath Al&#8217;s music is a journey spanning continents and centuries. Its roots lie in the meeting of distant worlds: the oral tradition of the Romani people, who along the Silk Road absorbed sounds from India all the way to Europe; the Slavic music of the Balkans, a land of infinite cultural nuances; and the indelible mark of the two powers that fought over the region: Vienna and Istanbul. From the Austro-Hungarian Empire come the brass instruments and Western harmony; from the Ottoman Empire, the breath of the Arab world. A thread running from the East across the Mediterranean. And then, straight to Milan. Alongside traditional repertoire are original arrangements and brand-new compositions. The doors are wide open: to Neapolitan song, with melodies that weave their way into our sound; to Salento brass bands, following the bridge between South and East launched by Opa Cupa. The result is music that pulses, vibrating with metal and heart\u2014telling stories of passions, love, death, and rebirth. A sonic journey between far-off places and deeply interior ones.<\/h5><h5 data-path-to-node=\"3\">FILOQ is a Genova-based DJ\/producer and sound explorer. His research stems from the conviction that sound is a device for reading the world: its places, migrations, and cultural transformations. His productions weave traditional music from all over the globe with electronics, global beats, and jazz\u2014creating hybrid sonic narratives where diverse artistic practices meet. As the dubmaster of the Istituto Italiano di Cumbia, he charts cultural routes connecting Africa and South America.
