“TOCCARE IL SUONO – IMPRONTE SONORE

The comparison between music and painting is one with deep historical roots. In De Pictura, Leonardo da Vinci asserts without hesitation the superiority of the latter over the former. Things fared better at the beginning of the 20th century, when Klee and Kandinsky demonstrated that a secret affinity of signs and meanings flows between music and pictorial imagery.

And what about Andrea Strizzi? His sound prints open up an exciting new avenue of research and expression. In his works, the two languages blend and unify: arms and hands play, fingers sculpt. It is a hymn to the human body, whose nerves convey sonic or tactile signs, giving life to a new conceptual and performative experience—a sort of “concert of forms in the making.” While it may sound like a science fiction title, it is the product of a young artist’s imagination, one who has found in material form the source of an extraordinarily original creativity.
