For this up-and-coming trio from San Diego, the first time is often the charm. The band’s first club dates led to a record deal with the renowned Daptone label; their first singles scored more than ten million streams in a year and caught the attention of Billboard, Rolling Stone, and KCRW. Their latest self-titled record is extremely hot, a whirlwind in which they blend the casual grace of ’60s soul with the grit and groove of early ’70s R&B. Hints of soul from Philadelphia, Chicago, Memphis and even Panama bring to life heady and engaging performances. An innovative and extremely honest challenge with which the band seeks to emphasize the importance of accepting and, at the same time, embracing our emotions as a fundamental element of the human experience.
