For this up-and-coming trio from San Diego, the first time is often the charm. The band’s first club dates led to a record deal with the renowned Daptone label; their first singles scored more than ten million streams in a year and caught the attention of Billboard, Rolling Stone, and KCRW. Their latest self-titled record is extremely hot, a whirlwind in which they blend the casual grace of ’60s soul with the grit and groove of early ’70s R&B. Hints of soul from Philadelphia, Chicago, Memphis and even Panama bring to life heady and engaging performances.
