The Comet is Coming
“Enhanced by ancestral cosmic forces, here comes The Comet Is Coming. Prepare for impact”
In 2013, in a rehearsal room somewhere in London, three musical cosmonauts met and combined their eneregies to build a rocketship strong enough to travel anywhere in the universe. Well, the musical project The Comet is Coming was born, and it aimed to answer to some existential dilemmas: Which sounds will remain the day after the widespread audio-destruction? Who’s gonna lead the survivors towards new worlds? Who’s gonna draw new borders?
The answers can be found in Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery, The Comet is Coming’s first album, published by Impulse! Records in 2019. According to Rolling Stone, “the album is influenced by Sun Ra’s cosmic atmposphere and by Acid Coltrane, combined with the electronic sounds of the Nineties and drown in a sea of glitch ed effects. A dark album, perfect for the rave of the end of the world. Must-see.” Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery is also the soundtrack of a fictional apocalypse, and right after the end of the world, the stage becomes the planet where the rocketship will land and appear, and the microphone is its accelerator : brace yourself for The Comet is Coming.
