Stefano Bollani believes that music is a game to be re-invented again and again, alone or with the most diverse partners: an approach that has led him to improvise with the greatest artists and that continues in his encounter with Iiro Rantala.
Stefano Bollani’s music starts from the masterpieces of the past, a continuous source of inspiration, but it always explores the present, the moment. This remains true whether the pianist plays with great artists (from Chick Corea to Chico Buarque), collaborates with the most prestigious orchestras or explores Brazilian music, with which he has close ties. For Iiro Rantala, Finnish pianist who graduated in jazz piano from the renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and then in classical piano at the Manhattan School of Music, the history of music is a treasure trove from which he draws for his compositions. From Jazz to Classical, the most diverse influences converge in his work, be it orchestral arrangements, solo piano works or jazz trio.
