A sound material characterised by a marked Mediterranean matrix, with a particular glance towards the East, in an original jazz-rock guise with psychedelic overtones. A fluid and iridescent sound that is moulded around ancestral and evocative melodies.
A traditional melody from the Far East, from Vietnam, meets a famous theme by John Coltrane, traditional melodies from southern India, from the accompaniments to the Bharatanatyam dance, sit side by side with Armenian and Turkish pieces.
We come to famous (and less famous) themes from the Balkan and Klezmer areas, even touching on the Tunisian coasts of North Africa and those of the entire Maghreb.
The drums are often played with bare hands, recalling traditional frame drums such as the daf. The electric guitar is also present in its fretless version, on the groove of the oud, the most important of the Arabic stringed instruments, but also with the use of the ebow that makes it similar to the kemance, the traditional Middle Eastern violin. The electric bass also plays a percussive role, often acting as a harmonic drone, a typical element of Caucasian orchestras.
