Michael League and Bill Laurance
After a long collaboration in the Snarky Puppy band, Michael League and Bill Laurence have been experiencing their music as a duo. The intimate connection they share on the stage hits the audience as they were playing with a bigger ensemble, but the smaller type of group allows the two musicians more freedom of expression.
Michael League is a double bass player who won three Grammy Awards and who now lives in Brooklyn. He worked with some of the most influent figures of the modern gospel, R&B and soul music. In 2016 he founded a band called Bokanté. Combining blues, rock, Carrebean and west African music, the group includes a terrific cast of musicians coming from four different countries.
Bill Laurance is a pianist, composer and performer who won three Grammy Awards. His four albums Flint, Swift, Aftersun and Live at Union Chapel, reached the top of iTunes Jazz charts in Great Britain and in the United States. He is now developing his fifth album, a solo work that explores a merger of acoustic piano and elettronic sounds focousing on free improvisation.
