Matt Bianco
Although the band’s name is often misunderstood as the stage name of singer Mark Reilly, the British band ‘Matt Bianco’ is a pop group influenced by jazz, Latin and lounge music. Their name recalls a fictional spy character, a James Bond-esque secret agent, and was chosen to celebrate the band’s passion for the ‘spy-story’ television genre.
Matt Bianco was one of the most interesting pop bands of the 1980s. Founded with the intention of experimenting with the contamination of Latin, jazz and funky genres with the more pop vein of the founding trio, they produced a series of hits such as ‘Get Out of Your Lazy Bed’ and ‘Half a Minute’ that made them famous in Europe and around the world.
At the rate of one album every two years or so, the band never ceases to move from one end of the globe to the other, strengthened by a loyal following.
The band returns to the Blue Note for three acid jazz unmissable dates.
