Ilhan Ersahin’s Istanbul Sessions + Michael Leonhart & JSWISS
Two concerts in one for a transcendental experience. A special double set will open with one of the most interesting contamination projects on the contemporary scene: Ilhan Ersahin takes us into his sublime world between jazz and Turkish tradition. This will be followed by the jazz-hip hop of trumpeter and producer Michael Leonhart accompanied by the transversal rapper JSWISS. If there are things that cannot be narrated, this is one of them.
FIRST SET
Ilhan Ersahin’s Istanbul Sessions, the authentic quartet from Eurasia, fuse their original sound with modern jazz, oriental rhythms and spices. The group presents itself as a meeting point between the Turkish and more Western-American music scene through a sound that combines jazz, rock, dance and instrumental music. With electrifying and transversal performances, since 2008 they have set the world’s stages ablaze: from New York to Istanbul, from Paris to Sao Paulo, from London to Skopje.
SECOND SET
Grammy Award-winning trumpeter and producer Michael Leonhart and acclaimed rapper JSWISS culminate two years of working apart during the pandemic with the release of their debut album, ‘Bona Fide’. An explosive project that blends hip-hop, jazz and orchestral elements in perfect harmony, with an equally dynamic live show featuring Leonhart as producer and instrumentalist on trumpet and samplers, JSWISS on vocals, along with drums and bass.
