For over fifty years, saxophonist and composer Idris Ackamoor has been one of the most authoritative voices of Spiritual and Afro-Futurist jazz. Since the beginning with The Pyramids, his music has stood out for a strong ritual and mystical dimension. On the stage of JAZZMI the band will perform music from highly acclaimed releases including “ARTISTIC BEING”, “AFRO FUTURISTIC DREAMS” and “SHAMAN” blending spiritual jazz with afrobeat, theater and political engagement. On stage, Ackamoor leads a multi-instrumental ensemble consisting of Sandra Poindexter, Bobby Cobb, Gioele Pagliaccia, Riccardo di Vinci, and Lorenzo Gasperoni. The result is a collective experience in which music and participation merge until they cancel every distance between artist and audience.
