Harpintime explores the sounds of the harp in the context of improvised music.
After centuries of classical repertoire, the harp was introduced into the world of jazz by harpist Casper Reardon in the first half of the 20th century in the USA. From then on, a series of harpists and arrangers followed, revolutionising the history, potential and repertoire of the harp and placing it in new musical contexts for the public.
Inspired in particular by harpists Dorothy Ashby and Betty Glamann, Harpintime is dedicated to the discovery of a repertoire that is still too little known from the harp, with the aim of giving the instrument a defined musical role and sound intention in contemporary jazz.
