The creative encounter between Gaetano Liguori, Roberto Del Piano and Filippo Monico led to the birth of the Idea Trio in 1972. From the very beginning, the group developed an original language: essential and incisive themes became the starting point for broad improvisational explorations, suspended between the energy of progressive rock and the search for free jazz, giving shape to a powerful and innovative sound. Influences range from Emerson, Lake & Palmer to the experimentation of Cecil Taylor, Ornette Coleman and Albert Ayler. The trio crosses all stylistic boundaries, blending melody and expressive freedom in a synthesis that crosses pop, jazz, contemporary music and popular tradition. An open and radical vision that still retains its strength intact today.
