Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet and Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano bring to the
stage a tribute to the great Neapolitan musician, giving an unprecedented portrait of him.
his melodies with the timbre and poetry of two exceptional contemporary jazz protagonists.
exceptional protagonists of contemporary jazz.
The repertoire of Il cielo è pieno di stelle (The sky is full of stars), the title of which is taken from the lyrics of Mal di te, embraces a wide range of songs, from the unfailing Napule è to the enthralling Je so’ pazzo, the poignant Anna verrà; but also the more recent Quando and the two pearls Allora sì and Sicily, the latter recorded at the time with the American jazz musician Chick Corea, author of the music to which Pino Daniele added the lyrics.
The intention is not a simple reinterpretation, but rather to (re)dress up an already great music with new and authentic colours, making extraordinary melodies resonate with the timbre and poetry of two exceptional protagonists of contemporary jazz.
After its debut in July 2022 at the MAXXI Museum in Rome, and numerous concerts in Italy and abroad, Il cielo è pieno di stelle also became an album, released on 21 June by Warner Music.
