More miles to go, a project devised by Walter Prati with his Experimental Music Company, reinterprets pieces from the Miles Davis repertoire using the same method as the great trumpeter: sessions of free recordings and re-composition in the studio of the recorded parts

Miles Davis’ production also marked a groundbreaking stage in the development of jazz because of the way it managed to put improvisation and composition on an equal footing. The free recordings of musicians led by the trumpeter were then reassembled in the studio, bringing improvisation and composition into dialogue as ‘compositional rethinking’. From this basic element More miles to go explores the musician’s entire output, broadening the horizon even to themes Davis wrote and played prior to the ‘electric’ period. Experimental Music Company is a variable-geometry musical enesemble, a group consisting of several musicians from different musical areas who collaborate in a personal way in the realisation of of different projects. Line up: Ricciarda Belgiojoso, electric piano and keyboards Daniele Cavallanti, tenor sax Mario Mariotti, trumpet Guglielmo Prati, electronics Walter Prati, bass, electronics and arrangements Emiliano Turazzi, bass clarinet
