Enrico Intra and Margherita Carbonell
If the world of Italian jazz is the way it is today, it is due to people like Enrico Intra. Pianist, composer, arranger and conductor among the most important in the history of European jazz, but also organizer and creator of events and situations that have affected the Italian socio-cultural fabric. Enrico Intra has played a leading role in more than half a century of musical life developing a poetic aimed at the encounter between the most exquisitely jazz language and contemporary European music of cultured matrix, elaborating a “European” concept of jazz but pervaded by a real connection with blues.
On the stage of JAZZMI, Enrico Intra will perform in duo with Margherita Carbonell, double bass player of classical formation who is currently studying jazz at the Civici Corsi in Milan, bringing her wisdom and technique of her instrument. These characteristics inspire Intra’s compositions and pianistic action, which explores new creative possibilities, once again projecting his piano into an unprecedented dimension, perhaps never explored before in the jazz world.
