B-BLACK Omar Sosa & Ernesttico Duo
Cuban pianist Omar Sosa and Cuban percussionist and drummer Ernesttico share a common musical vocabulary that directly comes from their Afro-rootsCuban, as well as a shared interest in enhancing traditional sounds with electronic instruments and sampled sounds. Their collaboration was born in early 2020, with a duo tour in Northern Italy, where Ernesttico resides. Both artists also favor an approach to music that emphasizes improvisation and freedom of expression, having fun and delighting the audience with the spontaneous interaction of their energy and musical dialogue
Omar Sosa is one of those names that don’t need much introduction. The Cuban composer and pianist is one of the most versatile and complete jazz musicians of his generation. He was able to admirably blend an extensive range of jazz, world music and electronic elements with his Afro-Cuban roots, managing to create a fresh and original sound, with a strong Latin flavor, but always giving an important role to improvisation.
Ernesttico is the pseudonym of Ernesto Rodriguez. His personal style is characterized by the search for new forms of language, both tonal and rhythmic, and it is based on a combination of percussions, drums, synthesizers and voice.
