For Thomas Conrad of the JazzTimes, “Cohen is one of jazz’s most eclectic musicians, and his ancestors certainly include Miles Davis. Like Davis, Cohen can turn his trumpet into a poignant cry of humanity”. An Israeli multi-instrumentalist, Avishai is a hyper-creative composer, open to multiple forms of jazz, an adventurous artist and a visionary beyond all limits.

The talented trumpet player started playing in public in 1988 at the age of 10. From a very young age, he began touring with the Young Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra under the guidance of masters such as Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur and Kent Nagano.

After numerous collaborations with Israeli folk and pop artists, he won a scholarship that took him to America, to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1997, the young musician placed third at the Thelonious Monk Jazz Trumpet Competition, becoming internationally renowned.

In recent years, he has been highly acclaimed for his work with his quartet.
