Orchestra Artchipel’s journey into the world of Frank Zappa continues with this second volume, delving even deeper into the creative workshop of the Baltimore-born genius. While the first part of the program opened the doors to his universe, this new chapter raises the stakes, exploring works that stand as true milestones of “total music.” The journey begins with the almost mocking yet sophisticated melody of Oh No, before diving into the primordial energy of King Kong—a monumental piece where rhythm becomes a force of nature, capable of sweeping away every boundary between jazz and rock. The program concludes with the driving force of Let’s Move to Cleveland, a piece that puts the orchestra’s virtuosity to the test through an intricate rhythmic web and pure improvisation. With their signature mastery and a touch of healthy madness, Artchipel reminds us that with Zappa, you never simply listen to music: you participate in a sonic revolution that, even in the halls of Mantua, feels more alive and relevant than ever.
