For JAZZMI 2022, The Artchipel Orchestra arrives, under the mystical energy of the northern lights at Volvo Studio Milano. Led by composer and drummer Ferdinando Faraò, a well-known face in jazz who has performed with Lee Konitz, Massimo Urbani, Tony Scott and Franco Cerri, among others, the orchestra is positioned as one of the most creative ensembles in contemporary jazz.
Artchipel Orchestra, one of the most highly regarded jazz ensembles on the Italian scene, presents itself on this occasion in a reduced orchestral guise, offering, in this ‘special edition’, compositions by British composers to whom it has dedicated particular attention: Mike Westbrook, Robert Wyatt, Lindsay Cooper, Hugh Hopper, Phil Miller and Jonathan Coe.
