ECM 50: VIAGGIO NELL’IMMAGINARIO SONORO ECM
pictures by Luciano Rossetti
curated by Alessandro Bettonagli
It’s called Editions of Contemporary Music, but to the world of jazz it’s simply ECM! The record label founded in 1969 by Manfred Eicher in Munich is undoubtedly a fixture in the history of Jazz. The label, which recently turned 50, has been a benchmark for a generation of jazz musi- cians since its inception in the late 60s.
JAZZMI celebrates it, not only with concercts and talks, but also with an exhibition of Luciano Rossetti’s pictures and ECM most memorable covers, featuring legends of jazz such as Jan Garbarek, John Surman, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Keith Jarrett and many others.
JAZZMI presents a journey into ECM’s imagination of sound through pictures by Luciano Rossetti. Images of sound, crystallized moments, moods reigniting the time of music, if only for an instant. From Jarrett to Pärt, from Monk to Kancheli, a black and white score unrolls throughout the exhibition, to represent the “contaminations of ECM artists”.
