Porgy and Bess Revisited in collaborazione con Cernusco Jazz
Location
- Mare Culturale Urbano - Cascina Torrette
- Via Q. Cenni 11
tickets:
A supergroup for our tribute to Miles Davis through the work of George Gershwin, of whom Miles was one of the most extraordinary interpreters. Gershwin defined “Porgy and Bess” as a folk opera, a true American story, a popular tale of Black folk drawing on Black music, the language of jazz, ragtime, blues, and gospel. Love and passion, but also the city’s vices, drugs and alcohol, religion and superstition, crimes and betrayals. Miles Davis and Gil Evans took up the challenge of revisiting the opera in their own way, with new colors, fresh sounds, and new emotions, melodies, and atmospheres that paved the way for the new frontiers of jazz: “Kind of Blue,” based on the very same core idea, was just around the corner.
